August of 08 - Have you noticed that some of the global warming crowd are starting to say "climate change" and not "global warming"? I am certainly hearing the phrase "climate change" more. I think that some of the global warming alarminists realise that "the jig is up".
Why "My Simple World" ?
My world is simple because I know who I am and, mostly, what I believe. I see a world from a "modern" perspective and not a "post modern" view. I believe there is a right and wrong. I believe that there are correct and incorrect ways of understanding events... it is not just a matter of what side of the fence you are on.
Most people in our postmodern world, especially the younger ones and intelligentsia, are growing more postmodern. They look at anyone who knows what they believe and believes in social norms as being narrow minded. So be it. However, these same postmoderns always seem to be the most intolerant of anyone who stands in their way - from whatever they believe at the moment.

Networks powering industrial control systems in nuclear power plants, hydroelectric plants, water utilities and the oil industry have been breached more than 125 times in the past decade, with one incident resulting in U.S. deaths, a control systems expert told a Senate panel Thursday. The control system sector is well behind the IT industry in cybersecurity defenses, said Joseph Weiss, managing partner of control systems security consultancy Applied Control Solutions, and a coordinated attack "could be devastating to the U.S. economy and security. "Meet the American daily newspaper of 2008. It has fewer pages than three years ago, the paper stock is thinner, and the stories are shorter. There is less foreign and national news, less space devoted to science, the arts, features and a range of specialized subjects. Business coverage is either packaged in an increasingly thin stand-alone section or collapsed into another part of the paper. The crossword puzzle has shrunk, the TV listings and stock tables may have disappeared, but coverage of some local issues has strengthened and investigative reporting remains highly valued. The newsroom staff producing the paper is also smaller, younger, more tech-savvy, and more oriented to serving the demands of both print and the web. The staff also is under greater pressure, has less institutional memory, less knowledge of the community, of how to gather news and the history of individual beats. There are fewer editors to catch mistakes. Despite an image of decline, more people today in more places read the content produced in the newsrooms of American daily nepapers than at any time in years. But revenues are tumbling. The editors expect the financial picture only to worsen, and they have little confidence that they know what their papers will look like in five years." A Project for Excellence in Journalism study
